Rehearsal Site:
Eugene Red Lion
205 Coburg Road Eugene, OR 97401
(541) 342-5201
Parking:
Parking at the Red Lion is on a first-come, first-serve basis. We encourage you to carpool, use mass transit and/or arrive early to ensure that you have a spot. Shuttle buses will take us to and from Autzen.
Attire:
The OMB will loan us windbreakers for the day, which means you will need to layer up underneath your jacket. While the jackets provide a uniform look in the band box, they will not be very warm and not necessarily water resistant so plan accordingly.
Sousaphones and Percussion:
We will provide sousaphones and percussion only. If you need a sousaphone or percussion instrument, please e-mail us as soon as possible at info@oregonalumniband.com.
If you need a loaner instrument for something other than sousaphone or percussion, music stores are a good bet for rentals.
Music:
Please e-mail us at gigs@oregonalumniband.com if you would like us to send you copies of the music. Please note that the music we have contains the basic stands tunes but not the OMB's current field show music.
We will not be providing lyres, so please have some way to read your music on the field and in the stands.
Cases, Personal Items, etc.
Room in the stands is EXTREMELY limited this year, so please plan on leaving your instrument case and/or large carry-on bags in your car during the game. The Red Lion rehearsal area will not be secured during the game. OMBers have also been asked to limit their personal items in the stands to provide room for us, so it’s only fair that we do the same. If you like, bring some money to buy lunch at the Moshofsky Center or inside Autzen.
You can bring bottled water into the stadium, but only in plastic, factory-sealed bottles. Plastic containers not factory sealed will need to be emptied before entering the stadium. Any non-plastic containers will not be allowed. Whatever you do bring with you, you may have to have it on your person during the pre-game show. Which brings us to…
Tailgating and Pre-Game Show
After a short round of tailgating stops, we will line up outside the east tunnel for pre-game. You will need to have anything you need with you on your person at tailgating, as we will go straight from tailgating to pregame and then directly into the band box.
Details of the pre-game show will be announced during rehearsal, but it is expected that we will line up along the south sideline for a performance of some or all of the fight song with the OMB as we have done in years past.
In the Stands, Making Friends
We will be squeezing tightly in and amongst the OMB by section. The OMB has many cheers they do during the games, so please be attentive to what people around you are doing and join in if possible. It also doesn’t hurt to introduce yourself to the OMBers around you.
We have a great relationship with the OMB. They pay for our rental of the Red Lion for homecoming, and promote OAB membership to graduating seniors. In turn, we buy the game-day treats for the OMB and offer scholarships to OMB members. The OMB is the future of the OAB, so take the time to make a friend and tell them how much fun you’re having!
2011 OAB Conductor
This year's OAB Conductor will be Julie Bounds. Please make her proud by observing cutoffs, and remember to watch her for the Fight Song downbeat when the team scores!
