Present: Laura Nelson, Lani Akers, Renee Schaefer, Monica Geraths, Phil Hodapp, Corianne Heinke, Robert Heinke

Meeting Called to Order at 6:57PM
Home Opener, September 1
We have 15 people registered so far, but we expect closer to 20 will trickle in by game time. We can probably get loaners for most instruments instead of just sousas.
We finally have access to music! Lani will e-mail music out to those with e-mail addresses and Renee will mail the music out to those who don't. (Renee to get e-mail and instrument list to Lani.) We on the Board all need to download our own music.
T-shirts for Home Opener: (Update) The flyer that Dr. Wiltshire gave Laura did not originally mention providing shirts, but after Laura and Dr. Wiltshire talked on this later (just after this meeting) he offered to provide Spirit Tees for all registered alumni band members. We just need to get size preferences from our members.
Postcards: Renee will send out a mailing by Tuesday, 8/21 that includes the schedule, music information, etc. from the flyer. It will also include an invitation to volunteer at this year's Festival of Bands.
Duckvision Intro: There is a possibility that Laura Nelson will be on Duckvision introducing the combined band. The band students will be introducing the OMB for each game this season but we aren’t sure if drum majors will do it or if Laura will be doing it for Home Opener. (It’ll be pre-recorded.)
Board Attendance: Everyone on the board will be at the Home Opener with the exception of Monica Geraths (who has a prior "engagement") and Lani Akers.
Homecoming: October 13
We have 21 people registered so far.
Gear for Sale: We need to replenish S, M and L sizes of the OAB shirts. We need to locate Jeannette's most recent inventory that was e-mailed out after last year's homecoming game.
Laura will get a quote to get our inventory levels up to 10 each of S/M/L shirts in both green and yellow, both long and short sleeve.
Lani mentioned that the hats are big sellers. Laura will get a quote on duck green & duck yellow hats for whatever quantity that qualifies for a price break (within reason) and will e-mail the quote back to the Board.
Loaner Windbreakers from OMB : Corianne will call the OMB to make sure they will clean the loaner windbreakers this year because they're very tricky for us to wash.
Director: Laura Arthur agreed to conduct again this year.
Drumline: We’re going to try to borrow from Springfield & Sheldon high this year. (Laura sent e-mail to Chris Holt to ask him on Springfield & then she’ll ask Tracy Ross at Sheldon.) Last year, Laura & Ty got a rental car & hotel to go the night before. They can do it again if OAB pays for the rental truck & hotel or if someone else can volunteer to bring them. Corianne will get a rental truck that they can lock up overnight. Phil moved that OAB pays for rental car/u-haul, etc. to haul drums, etc. Monica seconded; all approved. Jeff Swanson won’t be there because his second child is due October 7. He suggested that Don Elkington take his place. Don’s on board with that, so we’re set for drumline this year. Laura will contact Don to let him know.
Armory: We have the armory again this year. Jeannette will make sure that Mike is still giving us the back parking lot. Corianne will follow up with Jeannette for details. Gene will work the parking lot duty to make sure the cars squish in appropriately, etc.
Festival of Bands: October 6
Trophy: OAB will sponsor a trophy but no ad. Renee motioned $100 trophy, Phil seconded; all approved. Laura will follow up with the OMB on which trophy to get.
FOB E-mail: Renee to contact Sarah Turley to get the GTF and/or student contact for FOB so Renee can set up the e-mail account. This way the members can contact OMB direct.
Pape Jam: December 8
14 people have registered so far.
Sousaphones: Laura will contact Eric Wiltshire about loaner sousas for game day. So far we only have one registered for sure but we expect up to three more based on previous years. Phil will check to see if we still have two sousaphones from Jemtegaard middle school that we can borrow.
Other Business
Prior Members: Where are our friends and why haven’t they registered yet? Time to beat the bushes & get new recruits.
Scholarship Reinstatement: We have reinstated the scholarship at the $500 mark. We are doing one this year because we can’t guarantee the funds for two at this time. The way it works is that this year’s donations go toward next year’s scholarship.
Renee to find the scholarship application info & will get it to Laura. Laura can send it to Dr. Wiltshire for input. The deadline for application will be before the last game, and Laura & Corianne will present at the Band Banquet. This means that we can vote on the scholarship at the December 9 meeting or we can scan & e-mail out to the board for a vote (since we don’t know if there’s a bowl game & when the banquet would be.)
Income Statement: Lani explained the income statement to the group.
Signature Card: Lani mentioned that we need to all get together to get on the signature card for Bank of America because right now only Phil is legal to sign the checks. Lani, Laura & Renee need to go to a B of A branch. They will determine a date/time to meet to complete this.
OAB Drumset: Laura sold the drumset for the agreed-upon price of $650. The cymbals sold right away and the drumset just sold two weeks ago.
Membership: Renee to get list to Lani of who paid for 2-yr memberships last year.
Next Meeting: After Homecoming game in the Armory and then the next “official” meeting will be December 9 (day after the Jam)?
