licenses photocopied and sent to:
[information omitted}
C. Jeannette moved to approve financial report, Jeff seconded, unanimously

A. Big Green Benefit date has moved to 9/26/03 (exact locale TBA). We
will be receiving $500 from the Oregon Club.
B. OMB BBQ

9/19 (mid-band-camp) instead.
2. Monica motioned to issue Jeff a check for $600.00 to purchase food
and rent BBQ with; Lani seconded, approved unanimously.
3. Until scheduling issue is resolved, Phil requested all board members
email or otherwise contact him regarding which event they can help at
(one is required). Monica will send postcard and do email call for BBQ
volunteers and BGB players.
C. Homecoming 10/25/03 UO vs Stanford
1. Armory (rehearsal site) is already paid for by OMB.
2. Phil requested committee heads submit budgets to him ASAP so OMB
doesn’t have any surprises.
3. Music – Monica to scan, convert to pdfs, an email to Renee
to put on FDABA website. This new convenience will be mentioned in upcoming
newsletter.
4. Scott Barkhurst wants to put the Homecoming schedule in the next
issue of Ledger Lines. We will use last year’s schedule; Monica
will forward to him.
5. Volunteers: No additional volunteers will be solicited.
6. Percussion: Jeff to contact Tim Vian (Thurston HS) to confirm drumline
participation. Lani motioned to extend Mr. Vian a complimentary one-year
FDABA membership in exchange for providing us a complete and talented
drumline.
7. Seating: Same as last year, alongside the OMB. Phil to talk to
Todd to clarify times when FDABA can play independently and with the
OMB.
8. Post-game Social:

And maybe nice, warm soup. Will require Fine-4-BBQ stamp (Phil to

11. Most directed (played under the most directors)
c, Raffle: Jeff to contact Duck Shop to ask for cool door prizes.
9. Breakfast: Monica moved to do a renewed and improved breakfast
at 10am; Jeff seconded, approved unanimously. We’re jazzing it
up a bit- yummy! Cost is around $12. Free coffee for everyone.
10. A/V equipment: Jeannette to reserve a TV/VCR so we can watch old
band videos.
D. Logo-oh-no
1. Phil’s research: Sent a letter to twin Phil, haven’t
heard back yet... Phil contacted Nita Nichols at the U of O Trademark
Protection Department, who said FDABA is in violation because we used
green, yellow, and the word “duck” together.
2. Laura’s research: Laura designed a logo and sent it to the
University Advancement Department, who said it was too confusing with
the OMB. Whatever! Laura designed an obscene logo on the spot, which
drew tears of laughter. Interesting fact: the Oregon Club uses the “O”,
yet isn’t officially associated with the University of Oregon.
3. So, Phil to talk to Todd about possible consequences of this mess
and to the Oregon Club regarding affiliation; Laura to talk to Nita
to get absolute rules for trademark use/infringement, and some real
options. If FDABA ends up treading water, we may need to pay a visit
to Mr. Frohnmayer. Hopefully, all this can be cleared up in a few weeks.
Phil requested he, Laura, and Jeff email each other regarding logo issue.
IV. New Business
A. Affiliations
1. Reservations about officially affiliating with the U of O abound.
Other options include affiliating with the Oregon Club or the UO Alumni
Association.
B. Newsletter
1. Content to Renee by Wednesday, August 20th.
2. Mailing date is set for September 5th (Labor day week)
Next meeting Sept 6th in Eugene after the pick up game. Meet at Phil’s
parking spot.
Meeting adjourned at 8:45 pm.
