windbreaker, hip hooded sweatshirt
III. SUMMARY OF MEETING WITH OMB DIRECTOR
A. Homecoming Instrumentation: OMB cannot furnish percussion instruments;
however, the Thurston High School drum line will serve with FDABA for
Homecoming 2003. As for other instrumentation, FDABA will provide the
OMB with a list of needed instruments as registrations come in.
B. Seating: FDABA seating is still up in the air until UO’s Steve
Bianco’s replacement makes the final decision. Default seating is
the same as last year, adjacent to the OMB. Ideal options were located
where the visiting band sits or in the opposite end zone.
C. Publicity:
1. Send our schedule and event info to OMB (Connie and Todd), SOM
(Scott Barkhurst PR), and, UOAA (Pauline Austin, advertising and press).
2. Utilize Connie as a resource in publicizing events through OMB
outlets and accessing OMB’s totally up to date database. FDABA
has Filemaker Pro, so we can do this.
D. Other items to consider:
1. Planning FDABA socials coinciding with the Scrimmage and pick up
games.
2. Forming a GGB-like alumni group to play for alumni events. The
Gray Garter Band?!
3. Organizing chapters of FDABA in other locations around the state
and in the northwest, wherever “pockets” of FDABA folks
may have relocated so UOAA /Oregon Club needs can be met in these areas.
The heads of these chapters can be on the general FDABA board
4. “Adopt and Instrument” program where FDABA could coordinate
and promote fundraising for needed OMB instruments, but not gather or
donate the actual funds directly.
IV. HOMECOMING
A. Jeff to contact Tim Vian at Thurston regarding their drum line.
B. Jeff to try to get Vian some percussion music for drum line to practice
on now for homecoming.
C. Monica to contact Connie regarding any copyright issues regarding
scanning music to put on FDABA website so members can download and practice.
D. Jeff Johnson will not to able to convert music in Finale.
E. Budget estimate for Homecoming
1. Armory - $750/12 hours. Jeannette has left numerous messages with
the Armory with no response. It is not possible to book a date until
July 1.
2. Social - $500 (food)
3. Newsletter Mailing (including postage) - $1500 - $2000
4. Brunch (choose items from UO catering). Monica to contact Starbucks
regarding donating coffee and pastries.
5. Decorations – Rae has all the decorations at her home, enough
for this year’s homecoming event.
6. Music – live band; maybe the G(ray)GB?
7. Awards: Renee, Laura and Monica to design a questionnaire for participants
to complete at homecoming registration. Silly trophies/certificates
to be awarded at after-game social.
8. Renee suggested having a TV, with rabbit ears if necessary, available
after the game for people to watch while they eat (before awards ceremony,
of course!).
F. Volunteers: For 2003, no additional volunteers will be solicited.
G. During discussion on how to dispel with the license plate frames,
Monica suggested framing the FDABA Homecoming 2003 group with them and
preselling them online and at registration.
V. NEWSLETTER
A. Keep it simple.
B. Monica to send out membership expiration reminder / invite to rejoin
postcards between May 15 – June 1. Calendar will appear on postcard.
C. Send out another postcard out in July.
D. “Large” mailing to go out in August.
E. Renee to interview a FDABA member for “Mystery Duck”
article.
VI. OMB BBQ
A. Explore cost reduction for 500 burgers (Monica to check with her
burger guy). Last year, $464 spent on food, $150 on BBQ rental. Borrow
a BBQ?
B. Laura suggested the G(ray) Garter Band perform at BBQ.
C. Jeff to check on possibility of Pepsi donation and Williams Bakery
for bun donation.
D. Todd requested food be ready to eat when rehearsal is over (food
warming issue). Jeff offered up one of his company’s trucks to transform
into a massive, mobile, flamin’ BBQ just for this event.
VII. WEBSITE: Renee will begin putting minutes on the
website shortly for membership perusal.
